Blackout Serenade

2 Sep

Last night we had a blackout. There are a few businesses in the area where we are, and the power went out on this whole street, leaving us in complete darkness.

For a while, we had battery operated emergency lights that went on in the hallways,
and we fumbled around with our cel phones open in the dark to give us light.
But when those lights went out, we got scared.

So the security guard, our resident rock star Sophie, Katrina and I, all went outside, and Sophie serenaded us for two hours. She played some of her originals, some Beatles, Dylan, Buckley…but the REAL treat came when she started using US as inspiration, singing songs off the top of her head.

I haven’t laughed so much in a while!
It was one of those comedy sessions you had to see to believe.
